Whether you’re a wine lover, a foodie, or an outdoor enthusiast, a self-guided bike trip in Burgundy lets you experience the best of France on two wheels.

There are easy train connections to the start of our tours in Dijon or Beaune. Our itineraries all include the highlights and must-see villages of the region.

The famous wine village of Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Cru wines than any other wine village along Burgundy’s Route des Grands Crus. Drop-in wine tastings, a 12th century castle, and a plethora of little restaurants and cafes make this small village a true gem.

You will love the quiet riding past famous names like the Chateau de Clos de Vougeot, where you can stop for a visit, and of course the renowned, and very expensive vineyard of Romanee Conti – one of the best wines in the world.

Our routes on your Burgundy Bike Tour will take you through Nuits-Saint-Georges, where you’ll want to explore – use the map and Self guided walk we provide to help.

All our itineraries allow a stop in Beaune – the heart of Burgundy – and our headquarters. You’ll be charmed by this fantastic wine town. Park your bike

at the charming hotel and take a self-guided walking tour of Beaune’s beautiful and compact medieval centre, with the ramparts, the Palais des Ducs, the Beaune Wine Museum… or perhaps take the time for a visit of the Fallot Mustard Factory, or one of several possible wine tastings in town where you’ll enjoy the region’s pinot noir and chardonnays. Beaune, the capital of historic Burgundy offers a perfect blend of history, culture and gastronomy. It is the ideal place to spend a couple of nights during your Burgundy self-guided biking trip.

Don’t miss the incredible Hospices de Beaune (Hôtel-Dieu) — this 15th-century Flemish-roofed hospital, interior chapel and wine cellars are highlights, and one of France’s most visited landmarks. Stop for a typical French croissant on the town’s main square while watching the world go by, or enjoy the meandering through the cobbled streets lined with boutiques, cafes, wine shops and medieval architecture.

Dinner in Beaune is a highlight with so many fabulous restaurants to choose from. And if we haven’t picked one for you, our extensive package full of local information will help you find one that suits you and your group. Wine bars a plenty too, you won’t be looking long for your next glass of pinot noir or chardonnay!

Our Burgundy Bike tours take you around the famous Corton hill (Colline de Corton) to admire the grands crus vineyards that overlook Beaune — there is an option up to a fantastic panorama; it’s a steep but short push rewarded with views, or choose an e-bike for your trip to make it easier.

During your Burgundy cycling tour, you will head south along the Voie des Vignes (an established cycling route around Beaune) towards more famous Cote de Beaune wine villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, then onward to Chassagne and Santenay for wonderful vineyard-scenic cycling. Meursault and Puligny are the white-wine heartland (Chardonnay) and make a delicious contrast to the reds of the Côte de Nuits.

Biking southwards into the Côte Chalonnaise is always a highlight. Riding along the Canal du Centre is a welcome change from the lush green vineyards, going through the small French town of Chagny. For the enthusiasts you can choose a longer biking trip that takes you to Cluny and Tournus for Romanesque abbeys and spectacular scenery, including riding along a fantastic bike path, built along an old railway line.
