Come and explore the Heart of Normandy on a self guided biking trip!
Embark on your self-guided cycling trip through Normandy, France — a region where history, charm, and coastal beauty meet. From the picturesque harbor of Honfleur to the historic sands of Omaha Beach, this biking route weaves through seaside towns, rolling countryside, and centuries of cultural heritage. Our independent biking packages are perfect for travelers who crave freedom, discovery, and the open road, but want to benefit from our knowledge and experience to explore in the best way possible, on perfect routes.
A Normandy bike tour offers an unforgettable mix of relaxation and adventure.
Start your self-guided bike journey in the enchanting port town of Honfleur, known for its colorful harbor, art galleries, and cobblestone lanes. While there on your Normandy cycling tour you can explore the Vieux Bassin, admire the half-timbered houses as the Impressionist painters did.
This is a region dense with lush green countryside and villages, dotted with happy cows (all that fantastic cheese has to come from somewhere!), and apple orchards for making the crisp and delicious ciders, or the renowned complex Calvados of Normandy.
Leaving Honfleur, our Normandy bike itinerary takes you through bucolic authentic countryside before returning to the coast and on towards Deauville. Deauville is known as the “Parisian Riviera.” Known for its elegant beach promenade, horse culture, and luxury villas, Deauville is a favorite stop for our cyclists who love the mix of style and seaside atmosphere. Across the bridge, Trouville-sur-Mer offers fresh seafood and a lively seafood market — perfect for a mid-ride meal.
As your route continues, you pedal along the Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) to Cabourg, a romantic Belle Époque resort immortalized by Marcel Proust. Enjoy cycling along flat coastal paths and spend the evening strolling its long sandy beach. You can enjoy a coffee in a local café while admiring the view after a good day’s biking
From Cabourg, your Normandy bike route heads inland toward Caen, a vibrant university city rich with ancient medieval and WWII history. Take time to explore Caen Castle, the Abbaye aux Hommes, and the incredible WWII Memorial Museum for Peace. The well-marked bike paths make the riding in town for your explorations both scenic and comfortable for cyclists.
Your Cycling tour package continues west to Bayeux, home of the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry. Along the way, stop in Arromanches to visit the remains of the Mulberry Harbor, a remarkable engineering feat of WWII, and to visit the excellent 360° movie theatre about D-Day.
Your route then turns inland on to Bayeux for the end of the afternoon. This charming Norman town escaped major wartime destruction, preserving its 11th-century cathedral and half-timbered streets, cleanly sectioned by the meandering Aure river which cuts through town, and therefore all of its beauty. We provide a map and self-guided walking tour of the historic centre to help in your explorations. Bayeux makes an excellent base for a couple of nights on your Self Guided Normandy bike tour and all the hotels we have handpicked, to help make your trip all the more memorable.
A final day of explorations on your Normandy Cycling tour takes you farther west once more, to continue all the way to Omaha Beach, where the Normandy American Cemetery stands as a powerful tribute. Riding along this coastline to this spot, filled with the memories of D-Day, is both humbling and inspiring — a meaningful part to your Normandy biking adventure.
During this biking trip you will discover everything that makes Normandy so unique from other regions of France — apple orchards and cider farms, half-timbered cottages, seaside resort towns, and sweeping coastal views – as well as allowing you to visit so many of the key points in the region’s WWII history, and the DDay landing beaches.

Our self-guided bike tour allows you to travel at your own pace, with flexibility to explore off-the-beaten-path villages and scenic detours.
